Farmers` Day opens new local prospects and boosts international commendation

The Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO) concluded its successful participation in the Badoc Town Fiesta with various activities that made every participant smiling when they went home.

The Farmer s Day, which was held on April 25, 2012 at the President F.E Marcos Civic Center, started with a parade around town of five banner program of Badoc Agriculture namely: HVCC, Fishery, Corn, Rice and Livestock.

The Hon. Arlene M. Torralba opened the main activity on a high note with her inspiring message to the attendees. The main speaker, Provincial Agriculturist Ms. Norma Lagmay enthusiastically informed the farmers of their achievements catapulting Badoc in the forefront of the farming sector in the province particularly in rice, corn and onion production and she promised more assistance to the farmers to excel even more. She also introduced Korean business specializing renewable energy and the visitor, in turn promised to extend their services to the municipality. Hon. Vice Mayor Thomas N. Torralba, who made a progress report on the services being delivered to the farming sector, gladly accepted the offer of the Korean investor and he declared that Badoc is ready to lead in the green farming agriculture and renewable energy initiatives.

There were raffles and there were contests that enlighten the affair all throughout. Two pairs of participants pocketed a nice sum for their "Mannalon Attire" and almost everyone who entered their pets or their products in the “Pinaka –Contest’’ had their share of cash prizes. A show – stealer a 2-meter long python, a bisexual goat, a mother goat with 4 kids. Registered rice seeds, Corn Seeds, sprayers and other agricultural supply were given as major prizes in the raffles, and those who were not lucky enough ,were given each consolation prize.

In delivering her closing remarks, Mrs. Anita Cariaga promised as even merrier celebration next year after which she led the visitors in partaking a simple lunch at the MAO Office

DENR, Badoc spearhead coastal management initatives

On February 20-21,2012 the municipality through the DENR, hosted the Consultative Seminar- Workshop on Integrated Coastal Management towards Badoc ICM Plan held at Badoc Municipal Session Hall. The two (2)-day event brought together by the different coastal barangay leaders ,MFARMC and BFARMC representatives and NGO,s and representatives from DENR Region 1- PAWCZMS ( Protected Areas , Wildlife Coastal Zone Management Service). To put forward initiatives to address the urgent need of protecting the coastal and ecological systems

The seminar workshop encouraged marginal fisherfolks and legislators and private sectors of the Municipality. Further side events were simultaneously conducted to talk various factors that affect the marine life’s. Following discussion and agreements, inputs were submitted to the DENR-Regional Office 1 for consolidation and preparation of actions, planning and to set forward the intensions of the municipality towards attaining sustainable management of resources.
